Comparison of JUNDE PEEK with other commercial PEEK

Not all PEEK materials are the same, although the basic mechanical, thermal and electrical properties of PEEK materials from different manufacturers are similar. The performance of JUNDE PEEK is comparable to that of VICTREX PEEK450G, Keaspire PEEK and VESTAKEEP 5000G, with about 95% of product applications being essentially the same. Differences are mainly in the flowability of the material.

Chemical Resistance of PEEK

Chemical Resistance of PEEK

PEEK has excellent chemical resistance and can withstand most chemical substances including:

· Gasoline

· Kerosene

· Lubricants

· Formic acid

· Acetic acid

· Hydrochloric acid

· Caustic soda

· Hydrogen peroxide

However, strong oxidizing acids such as concentrated sulfuric acid, concentrated nitric acid, aqua regia and chlorine are not tolerated.

Mechanical properties of PEEK

PEEK is a semi-crystalline thermoplastic with outstanding mechanical and chemical resistance properties:

Tensile strength: 90-100 MPa.

Glass transition temperature: Approximately 143 °C (289 °F).

Melting temperature: 343 °C (662 °F).

Biocompatibility of PEEK

PEEK is biocompatible but does not fuse completely with bone because it is hydrophobic. Silicon nitride PEEK (a mixture of PEEK and Si3N4) is biocompatible, bioactive and has demonstrated bacterial resistance as well as excellent bone affinity.

Common uses of PEEK

PEEK is used in many industries due to its excellent physical properties:

· Bearings and bushings

· Automotive parts

· Semiconductor machinery

· Seals

· Food processing equipment

· Piston parts, pumps

· HPLC columns

· Compressor plate valves

· Cable insulation

· Medical prosthetics and implants

· Vacuum cleaners and valves

· Safety devices

· Dental instruments

· Thermometers

· Dialysers

· Endoscopes

· Protective devices

· Sterile boxes

· Cell phones

· Refrigerators

· Washing machines

· Air conditioners

· Computers

· Portable electronics

Advantages of PEEK Plastic

PEEK (polyetheretherketone) is a high-performance, semi-crystalline thermoplastic that is widely used in various industrial and medical applications due to its outstanding properties. Here are some of the key benefits of PEEK:

· Strong and rigid: High fracture strength.

· Excellent machinability: Can be easily machined with diamond-coated, polycrystalline diamond (PCD) or polished carbide tools.

· Excellent durability: Withstands seawater, solvents, chemicals, hydrolysis and many underwater environments.

· Heat resistant: Can withstand temperatures of approximately 480°F (250°C). Even higher temperatures in steam or high-pressure environments do not affect rigidity.

· Melting point: About 650°F (343°C).

· Low toxicity and gas emission: Safe for many high temperature environments when exposed to open flame.

· Creep resistance: Even at high temperatures.

· Suitable for ultra-high vacuum pumps: Ideal for extremely harsh environments.

· Autoclavable: Increases hygiene for medical applications.

· Chemical resistance: Slow dissolution when in contact with concentrated acid solutions such as nitric and sulfuric acid.

· Reinforceable: Glass or carbon fiber fillers improve thermal stability and mechanical strength.

· Durable and wear-resistant: Ideal for harsh environments and applications with prolonged wear.

· Resistant to high-energy radiation.

· Low moisture absorption.

· Inherently flame retardant.

· Biodegradation: Highly resistant to biodegradation, parts and products made from PEEK can last extremely long.
